CRIME AND PUNISHMENT
Arrigo Pedrollo's opera Crime and Punishment, based on Dostoevsky's novel of the same name, was composed in 1926. The opera was inspired by biblical themes and the paintings of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. It was performed at the MAMT (Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Opera and Ballet Theatre) before the war broke out. With only two soloists, the opera is very compact and can be performed in different venues.
